Our July 4th

Today was not your "traditional" July 4th celebration. Instead of parades and fireworks, we opted for a low-key kind of day. We went out to Huber Orchard and Winery this morning and came home with lots of goodies: 13 lbs. of peaches (fresh off the trees)



2 bottles of their delicious wine: Harvest Blush and Starlight Red


and one loaf of their homemade Peach Melba Muffin Bread--YUM!!

We then went to a little restaurant here called Culver's. They serve Butterburgers and Frozen Custard. Intrigued? Well think Whataburger and really thick DQ Blizzards (only better).

We ended the day with a trip to the movies. We hardly ever go to the movies, but thought we'd take Emma to see Ratatouille.


It was cute and had some really funny moments, but I didn't think it was Pixar's best work. The effects were amazing, but it was no Toy Story.

All in all it's been a good day. I'm thankful that we live in such a great country. It angers me to think of those that take freedom for granted. Those that live their lives never giving thought to the men and women that died so that we may live in abundance. And for those men and women providing freedom EVEN NOW--THANK YOU. Freedom isn't something that happened to America over 200 years ago...it is fought for, defended and died for each day. Never take that for granted. **stepping off my soapbox now**
