An Amazing Opportunity

Many of you know my youngest stepson. Eric is 23 and on fire for the Lord. Two years ago he asked Ed to baptize him at our church. His love for the Lord has grown since that day and he has been seeking the Lord's will for his life. He's always felt like the ministry was where the Lord wanted him, but didn't know in what capacity. He talked of going to seminary, but the money needed never seemed to materialize. He looked into an internship program and college, but hit roadblocks at every turn. We now understand why.

Eric has been accepted by Adventures in Missions (AIM) to dive into the deep end of ministry so to speak and embark on an 11 month mission trip to 11 different countries. He will be leaving January 1, 2010 and returning in November 2010. This journey will take him to some of the poorest places on Earth. He will see the horrors of war-torn countries, HIV, orphans, starvation and poverty. He will have the opportunity to share the good news of the gospel with the people and serve them in numerous ways--being the hands and feet of Jesus.

Eric is excited and terrified. This is a huge endeavor. He knows the Lord is working through him though and is excited to see ultimately where the Lord wants him to serve. Is he being called into full time missions work? Will his heart fall in love with the orphans in Africa or the gypsy people of Romania? Only the Lord knows....for now.

I'm writing to you today to because he needs your support. He must raise $15,000 for this trip. I know that number seems big, but you have to remember that is his food, lodging, travel expenses, etc. for almost a year. Many of you will be receiving a support letter in the mail from Eric, but I also know that some of my readers would love to support him (and I don't have your addresses). On the sidebar of my blog as well as in this entry I will place a link if you wish to donate online. You can choose to give a one-time gift or continual monthly support from now through March (when the last of his money is due).
