She's Home!

What a whirlwind trip! We left Thursday morning and arrived back home Saturday afternoon. It's been a busy few days for us!

Just to catch everyone up, we went and signed paperwork Friday morning and picked up all of her records. We then went to her foster parent's home and loaded up her stuff in the trailer. She was napping when we arrived and didn't wake up even when we moved her to the truck. We had already driven about an hour before she woke up. She was happy and quiet as she took in her new surroundings.

After a few hours on the road we stopped for the night. We had dinner which was a new experience for us with a wheelchair. It went smoothly though and we were soon snuggled in to our hotel for the night. She slept great and generally has been sweet so far.

We came home Saturday afternoon and unloaded all of her things. She came with furniture, equipment and enough clothes for 10 ten kids! We didn't do much Saturday night except fall into bed.

Yesterday we went to church. She did really well. She doesn't talk yet, but she's vocalizing a lot. It can be loud. She stayed quiet though through church. I can't wait to get her into therapy and see what we can do with all the noises she's making.

As a whole it has been a great experience so far. We've had a couple of moments of stress as we've tried to figure things out, but they go as quickly as they come. She's had two crying episodes that I think are related to her realizing she's not home any longer. It's more of a scared cry than discomfort. We've just picked her up and rocked her and she has settled down quickly then seems to be fine.

Princess E is loving Big Sisterhood. She loves having Eden in her lap and often wants to help with her care. Learning to deal with Eden's noises has probably been Emma's biggest challenge. We have a quiet household and Eden's "talking" is disruptive to that. We've explain to Emma though that at her stage of development those are sounds she needs to make in order to learn to talk eventually. She's learning to tune it out.

So welcome home little Eden. I can't believe she's finally here. She's not had outside therapy so her potential is unknown. We are hopeful that she will make great strides as she gets plugged in to therapy up here.
